On Wednesday October 6, the former First Lady Martine Moïse, protected by her heavily armed foreign bodyguards and a large escort of the Haitian National Police (PNH), went to the Courthouse of Port-au- Prince, to be heard as a witness, by the examining magistrate Garry Orélien, in the context of the assassination of her husband, President Jovenel Moïse. Several dozen supporters of the late President Moïse came to show their support for Martine Moïse.
"Today, October 6, I was in the cabinet to answer questions from the judge to see how the investigation into the death of President Jovenel Moïse can advance. I answered all the questions, just under 80 questions over three to four clock hours," Martine Moïse told the media following her hearing.
She announced that she had become a Civil Party "because I want the investigation to advance and succeed [...] All we want, all we are waiting for is that justice be done" affirming that forever she will ask justice to be done for Jovenel Moïse. Regarding the investigation she cannot say if it is on the right track, as the fact-finding investigation is just beginning, she recalled. In addition, she encouraged all those who have information to participate in the invstigation "If someone has information about a person who is the subject of a warrant, a search notice, share the info."
Let's recall that 3 months after the assassination of the President in his resident on August 7, 2021, we still do not know who are the sponsors and the reason for this attack, during which no police officer responsible for the protection of the President was injured. A total of 44 people, including 18 Colombians and two Americans of Haitian descent, were arrested in connection with the investigation and several others are on the run and are actively sought.
Following his statements to the media, his security agents drove Martine Moïse in a vehicle of the procession which quickly left the area of the capital which the gangs have controlled for several months.
