Haiti - FLASH : The State seized the Sogener company and the property of its leaders
Another twist on Thursday in the Saga between the State and Société Générale d'Énergie S.A. (Sogener).
Following an order for protective seizures issued by the examining magistrate Mathieu Chanlatte near the Court of First Instance of Port-au-Prince, the judicial authorities accompanied by agents of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) and lawyers of the State proceeded Thursday to the seizure of the head office of the company Sogener located on the road of the airport and the employees were invited to evacuate their place of work without delay.
In addition, all the property of the directors of the SOGENER company, in particular those of Élizabeth Débrosse Préval, Jean Marie Vorbe, Dimitri Vorbe and Réginald Max Vorbe Fils, were seized and sealed as requested by the judge of instruction order "[...] respectively orders the seizure and freezing of property and funds forming part of the patrimony of the accused Réginald Vorbe Fils, Jean Marie Vorbe, Albert Edouard Dimitri Vorbe, Agnes Elisabeth Débrosse likely to be the proceeds of these crimes and offenses, in particular Soged located at Boulevard Toussaint Louverture and the buildings located at Laboule 18, Morne Calvaire and Péguy-Ville, rue des Marguerittes belonging respectively to Agnes Elisabeth Debrosse, Albert Edouard Dimitri Vorbe, and Jean Marie Vorbe as well as all the others property, proceeds of crimes and offenses for which they are prosecuted; this, in a few hands and places where they are. [...]"
These actions would follow a new complaint for money laundering according to Me Newton Louis St-Juste, one of the State attorneys who evokes the use of a loan from the BNC to Sogener used for others ends...
For Me Fanfan Guérilus, the defender of Réginald Max Jean Vorbes, these actions are proof of "political persecution of the Executive power".
